The main objectives of the inception module are:
A 3-week Inception module organised by the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). SOAS is college of the University of London; based in the heart of London. Expertise on Japan, Korea and the region is spread across the SOAS departments, with specialists in a wide range of subjects. The Japan Research Centre and Centre of Korean Studies of SOAS will be instrumental in preparing and providing the training for the ETP participants.
SOAS has built a strong reputation around the globe for the quality of its teaching, research and services to business and the community. It has been consistently ranked among the top higher education institutions both in the UK and internationally. Since its inception in 1916 SOAS has had a remit to provide training in Asian and African studies to diplomats and international business people, helping them to familiarize themselves with the relevant languages and cultures in order to operate more effectively overseas.
ETP participants are expected to arrive with their business plans and strategies partially developed. During the Inception Module they will receive intensive training on how to develop business plans and strategies and will shape them further based on the characteristics of the Japanese/Korean markets. The SAOS experts (the combination of academics and practitioners) will review the current plan and make recommendations for priorities going forward.
The Inception Module will ensure that all the participants have the background knowledge and skills in order to create a well-developed business plan and strategy.
